About the release
Ivana Lang (Zagreb, 1912 – Zagreb, 1982) is the first Croatian composer after Dora Pejačević. However, unlike the aristocrat Dora Pejačević, who became a kind of Croatian cultural export, a self-effacing musician and composer, a single mother and a piano teacher, Ivana Lang, who was historically uninteresting and insufficiently intriguing or exotic due to dominant aesthetic ideologies, has often remained bypassed, silenced and invisible until recently. Only recently has the public shown interest in the musical world of Ivana Lang. Thus, this CD is a kind of homage to the composer from the shadows and an attempt to make the invisible visible, the inaudible heard.
