Meet Cantus

Cantus Ltd. was founded by the Croatian Composers’ Society in February 2000, with the goal of systematically presenting, promoting, and advancing Croatian music culture both nationally and internationally.

Our Mission

The concept of Cantus as a publishing house, particularly in the field of contemporary art, is focused on comprehensive and structured care for musical works and projects – from their creation and production to their long-term availability and visibility in both the domestic and international cultural landscape.

A Lasting Sound: The Cantus Story

Cantus Ltd., the publishing and production company of the Croatian Composers’ Society, was founded in February 2000 with a clear mission: to systematically present and promote Croatian music culture in Croatia and abroad. From its earliest days, it has developed into one of the key centres for the production, documentation, and presentation of contemporary Croatian music.

Cantus operates across discography, sheet music publishing, and books. Over the years, it has actively participated in the organisation and realisation of numerous music festivals and projects, including the Music Biennale Zagreb, Music Panel of the Croatian Composers’ Society, Festival Zagrebfest, Croatian composer portrait concerts, as well as a wide range of concerts, promotions, exhibitions, and professional conferences that have shaped the national cultural landscape.

For more than twenty years, Cantus published Cantus Magazine, the official publication of the Croatian Composers’ Society, serving as an important platform for documenting and informing about the Croatian music scene until 2021, when its role was taken over by the digital platform glazba.hr.
