About the release
Monika Woźniak, harpsichord
“The collaboration between composer Ivan Božičević and harpsichordist Monika Woźniak came about – by chance: typing his own name into Google, Božičević came across a video recording of his composition Summer in the World, performed and uploaded by Monika Woźniak. Delighted by the performance, he contacted her, and they soon agreed to collaborate on a CD which – after lengthy preparations – was recorded in Poznań in September 2023.
About the selection of works for this CD, Božičević wrote: ‘I am a firm supporter of musical recycling. The situation in musical life has been such for decades that performance opportunities available to a contemporary composer are very rare. Even works that audiences, critics, and performers consider highly valuable often end their concert life after only a few performances. By reworking them for different ensembles, I fight against such a situation, so it should come as no surprise that all the works on this CD (except Willows are Green, Flowers are Crimson) have alternative versions, and often more than one.“ (Alenka Bobinsky, excerpt from the CD booklet)
