Tibor Szirovicza: She Had Become an Elementary Particle for Flute, cello and percussion
About the release
Commissioned by the Novalis Festival 2021, the composition She Had Become an Elementary Particle, for flute, cello and percussion, is inspired, as the title suggests, by the multidimensional female figure and the complexity of interpersonal relationships, with an emphasis on the time of its creation in the circumstances of a global pandemic. The link between the instruments in this concise composition is the similarity of the colours of certain extended techniques that can be performed on each of them, with an emphasis on the creation of noise, primarily white noise, for example: specific bow strokes, the sound of breathing, the scratching of percussion membranes and other methods, and on sonority – ranging from an elementary particle to the multi-dimensionality of sound in space.
The form of the composition is built by dynamically muted vertical blocks in an irregular correlation of contrast with loud musical content. The work was premiered at the opening of the Novalis Festival, on October 7, 2021, at the Osijek Cultural Center, by flutist Ana Batinica, cellist Vid Veljak, and percussionist Luis Camacho Montealegre.
