About the release
Miserere mei, Deus for mixed choir by Srećko Bradić was composed in 2016, during his composer in residence for the Croatian Radio and Television, and on May 24 of the same year it was premiered at the Mimara Museum in Zagreb by the HRT Choir conducted by Nils Schweckendiek.
Srećko Bradić embodied his personal creative interest in textual templates of spiritual themes on this occasion in Psalm 50 (51), skillfully shaping an introspective musical content, in his words – comparable to a confession. The composer’s admiration for the text resulted in a fragile and emotional dedication to his mother and a composition that – bravely stepping through sixteen sections – poses numerous challenges for the performers, while at the same time revealing a skillfully woven formal harmony. By subtly building the atmosphere of a composition that strongly exudes weight and tension, but also a desire for purity and elevation, Srećko Bradić created an unshakable work of powerful contours.
