Antiphonus: Mixtape
CD
About the release
This Antiphonus ensemble’s album is titled Mixtape after the eponymous, newest, and last composition on its track list, written by the youngest of the album’s featured composers – Sara Glojnarić. The fact that this is an early work by a Croatian composer who today enjoys remarkable international success allows us to view the selected programme of contemporary Croatian choral a cappella and vocal-instrumental music – composed between 1986 and 2015 – not merely as a retrospective or a neatly rounded survey with a definitive conclusion, but rather as a repertoire open to further enrichment through new compositional contributions. The title Mixtape aptly describes the selected programme, which is a “mixture” of diverse authorial expressions and approaches to vocal style from the Croatian composers’ songbook presented on this album, fitted for the representative Croatian vocal ensemble.
